Small Format Art using Golden Acrylics
Yesterday I finished working on some tiny canvas paintings. I’ve painted in miniature format for many years, and it’s always fun to return to the 2 to 3 inch zone to brush up on some editing skills. You just can’t fit it all in; a minimal approach becomes necessary.
Small brushes are great to use for painting this small, but the corner of larger brushes can also work and help facilitate a less fussy technique.
These small works shown here are acrylics on stretched canvas with painted sides, and I’ve just added them to my Etsy shop.
Small works in oils
It was a good day for the small works projects–I managed to add some more to each of these oil paintings.
Working in oils takes more time to allow for drying, but I enjoy everything about the texture of painting alla prima with oils. I often work in acrylics and watercolors in between the oils–it gives my creative brain a different outlet and keeps my skills expanding in other mediums.

Finished painting is available on Etsy… have a beautiful Tuesday. 🙂
Florida life continues in the high summer temperatures…waiting for the afternoon rain.
I don’t use this lens that often, but it was fun playing with the camera settings today. Of course I was melting in this Florida heat, waiting for hummingbirds that did not visit. Maybe next time!
