Hobonichi Art Journal Flip

Patience is the name of the game when uploading videos to YouTube, but due to several requests, I’m giving YouTube another try. Unfortunately, uploading speeds are notoriously slow, at least for me here at home, and the frustration level peaks when dealing with the wait times as the videos process at a snail’s pace.

But it’s there! Finally! The YouTube video has processed. It is just a flip through of my Hobonichi Techo Art Journal so far for 2017 with some commentary on the techniques and supplies that I used. If there are any specific videos you would like to see, please leave me a comment below! 🙂

Gelli Plate printing in Composition Notebook

This morning I wanted to make some quick Gelli Plate printed pages in my composition notebook to see how much paint these thin pages could handle. I had started this notebook a few years ago, but I lost interest in working on the lined paper after having filled about 4 of them with collage and daily writing entries. I was drawn to this one because I had decorated the front cover with acrylics, and it looked so pretty sitting on my bookshelf. I think I was going to use this notebook for capturing free writing exercises, having been inspired by the book Poemcrazy. (love this book) Note to self… I must get back to those writing prompts and let the brain purge all these creative words that are floating around.

I am always amazed at how much stronger these thin, ruled pages become with the added layers of acrylics. The traditional sewn binding makes these school notebooks withstand the toughest art studio abuse. Here is a little photo sample of this morning’s printing adventure…

Travel art studio tote from Michaels craft store. #Michaels #crafts #art

I was super excited to find this rectangular shaped, soft art tote in Michaels Craft Store the other day. It is full of dividers and pockets and zippers… and well, it made perfect sense considering how many times I need to tote various little art tools and sketchbooks with me. Sometimes I’m just traveling from the art studio desk to the love seat in the living room, but it’s all about efficiency! LOL

An added bonus is that with the Michaels 40% coupon, it cost me only $12.00. Yeah, right? I know what all you art supply junkies are saying!!! Slam dunk decision in the crafting storage aisle! I haven’t even filled it to capacity yet, but I’m looking forward to my first test run when I have another art day at my sister’s house. On the move with my stash of goodies. FUN TIMES!!!  😉
